Skiing at Okemo Mountain Resort
Indian summer is still in full swing and leaves are still on the trees, but we already start to look ahead to the next season. Winter and snow will be here before we know it. With Okemo Mountain Resort less than a mile away from The Governor’s Inn we are closely following the procedures they put in place for skiing at their resort this winter.
Okemo is limiting the number of people that can ski or ride the mountain each day. When they reach the maximum number of patrons for the day, no more reservations will be accepted for that day and no more tickets will be sold.
Reservations? Okemo will implement a reservation system this winter. This system allows pass holders to make “priority reservations” throughout the season for any day they want to ski (and that is covered by their pass). A pass holder can have 7 priority reservations open at any time. In addition, pass holders can make reservations for any of the next 7 days without using their priority reservations.
If the reservations by pass holders do not reach the maximum of people allowed on the mountain, day-tickets can be bought online or through the call center and picked up at the ticket windows until the maximum is reached. Be aware – tickets will no longer be sold at the ticket windows. Do not head to the resort unless you have a reservation or bought a day-ticket beforehand. This all sounds difficult and as if it benefits pass holders. The good thing though is that there are a lot of different passes, and that is where it levels the field again. You can buy a one-day pass (or a two-day pass, a three-day pass, …) which allows you to make priority reservations just like any other pass. Just be aware – holiday access is excluded with day passes. Go to Okemo’s website to find out about restrictions for the different passes. But let’s say you want to come the weekend of January 9th and 10th as an example. You can buy a two-day pass now, and make your reservations for these days when Okemo starts taking reservations beginning of November. And with that you would be almost all set for your weekend skiing trip. Except – remember to reserve a room for your stay at The Governor’s Inn for that weekend as well.
